Wednesday morning as temperatures crept into the lower 90's RFD units were dispatched to assist the Liberty Fire Company in Spring City Borough for a reported residential fire. Also on the initial dispatch to assist were Ridge Fire Company and Spring City Borough Police Department. The caller reported seeing black smoke coming from the rear of a residence initially reported to be on the 500 block of Hall Street which was later updated to the same block of Broad Street after police located the residence. MICU 83-4 was added to the assignment due to the extreme temperatures and need for EMS onscene to monitor health conditions with MICU 325-65 also arriving to provide support. Ladder 98 arrived followed closely behind by Engine 63 & Rescue 98 to find a culinary mishap as the root cause of the situation scaling back the assignment to units inscene from Liberty & Royersford. MICU 83-4 was released from the scene to handle another medical emergency in the area while fire personnel ventilated the residence before clearing the scene.
