Faulty Detector Brings Response to UPT

An early wakeup for crews from Royersford and Trappe this morning being alerted to a fire alarm on Buckwalter Road at 5:30am. Shortly after dispatch the assignment was upgraded from a fire alarm to a building investigation after the reports were received the homeowners smelled something inside the residence, the upgraded assignment added an engine from Liberty Fire Company in Spring City. Two hours and six minutes into 2022 RFD tallies the first Department response of the year bringing both Fire & EMS Divisions to an auto accident in Upper Providence Township. Rescue and Engine 98 along with MICU 325-3 traversed foggy and slick roads to discover a single vehicle accident on Mennonite Road. During the overnight Sunday into Monday RFD units were alerted to a wooded section along 2nd Avenue in Upper Providence Township to assist PECO onscene with a burning utility pole. The pole was located away from the roadway prompting an off-road response from Trappe Fire Company's four wheel drive apparatus to extinguish the smoldering pole.
