November 15, 2020

The Royersford Fire Department is honored to serve the Spring-Ford community helping those not only during fire and medical emergencies, but also joining the fight against breast cancer. In early August we announced the members of RFD would be wearing pink shields on our helmets from August 1st through the end of October. Each shield worn had a specific name on it, the name on the shield was someone who has been effected by breast cancer.

Throughout the month of October RFD spearheaded an effect to raise funds for the non-profit group Helen’s Angels who provides support services for those effected by breast cancer. Partnering with Royersford Borough as well as multiple businesses to host a fundraising events, selling raffle tickets for donated prizes, spreading the word through stickers and shirts, and of course tapping the unbelievable Spring-Ford community we’ve raised over $6,800.00 in the month of October to directly support the mission of Helen’s Angels!

On Sunday afternoon RFD had the privilege of hosting a luncheon to honor those who were supported on our shields. Each first responder who sponsored a person effected by breast cancer was able to meet, some for the first time, the person they sponsored and have a catered lunch provided by Texas Roadhouse with delicious cupcakes provided for dessert by our friends at the Pink Moose. A special thank you to our friends at Annamarie’s who saved the day providing coffee for the event on short notice after our coffeemaker decided Sunday was a day of rest. A full list of supporters for Sunday's luncheon is below, please visit and support these amazing business and people who without hesitation jumped to help RFD and the mission. So much of this initiative wouldn't have been possible without the help of the Borough of Royersford, Mayor Jenna Antoniewicz, Senator Katie Muth, State Representative Joe Ciresi, Handel's Ice Cream of Royersford, Lewis Environmental Group, Texas Roadhouse, and so many more for all of your help, donations and contributions to this amazing cause.

- Decorations of beautiful pink balloons and carpet runway provided by Nina of the Party Dollar Pulse store in Limerick
- Community banners provided by Rick Pizzico of Pizzico signs and the L&W group of Spring City.
- Each person being honored was provided with a carnation donated by Beth Ann of Beth Anns Flowers of Royersford.
--- Each carnations color (pink, red or yellow) represented a survivor (pink), those who have lost the battle to breast cancer (red) and those who were in attendance from Jake's Dragons, supporting Pediatric cancer (yellow).

We would also like to thank Helen’s Angels for taking part in our breast cancer awareness fundraiser and being truly amazing community supporters! Finally we want to thank you Spring-Ford for proving again and again why this community is second to none when it comes to helping and supporting each other. Thank you doesn't seem like enough when the community rallies around a mission such as this but thank you from all of us and thank you for being our biggest supporters of #OneTeamOneMission.
