There are many things we do on the fireground which pose a challenge. One of those things is search and rescue. Imagine putting a blindfold on and crawling on the floor inside your own home. While you may think it is an easy task in your own home, imagine going into a home where you do not know the layout of the furniture, maybe only have a rough idea of the room layout and you are searching for someone's loved one. This was what we practiced for today.

Using tables as well as out gear racks as a mock up, RFD members worked their way around the engine bay to work on skills such as communications. Two people searching a room need to be talking to each other and maintaining contact all while feeling for possible victims. It isn't an easy task, so we continually practice these skills.
