Fire Claims SIx Homes on 2nd Avenue

Wednesday evening at 5:46pm the Royersford Fire Department and mutual aid agencies were dispatched to the 200 block of 2nd Avenue. Royersford Borough Police were on patrol and noted smoke coming from the residences and immediately took action requesting the fire department be dispatched while also beginning to check and evacuate the involved residences. Head On Collision Shuts Down Main Street

A two vehicle accident closed Main Street around 5th Avenue in Royersford this afternoon as a light mist fell. The head on collision brought units from RFD's Fire & EMS Divisions along with Liberty Fire Company and Royersford Borough Police Department. EMS Division Responds to Building Fire in Collegeville

This morning MICU 325-15 was dispatched to Collegeville Borough to assist on the commercial building fire on the 200 block of E. Main Street. EMS stood by onscene while fire units operated bringing the situation under control with no injuries were reported.

Hookies Bar & Grill and the American Italian Bocce Club Team Up for Donation

Today was the culmination of a friendly competition for a great cause. Over the last year the Hookies Bar & Grill and the American Italian Bocce Club memberships have been collecting can tabs for a donation to the Shriners Children's Hospital in Philadelphia. Rescue 98 Assists in East Coventry

This afternoon Rescue 98 assisted the Ridge Fire Company on a commercial building fire in East Coventry Township. Rescue 98 in addition to having extrication tools and used primarily for auto accidents and other reviews also contains an air cascade system allowing for onsite refilling of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). Crews Train on Rapid Intervention Techniques

Monday night crews went to the old Nelson's property on Main Street to continue practicing Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) techniques. A rapid intervention team is used on a fireground strictly for firefighter rescue. The RIT normally stands by at an incident in case of an injured or trapped firefighter.

Engine Crew Assists in Limerick Township

Sunday Evening, the RFD was dispatched as part of automatic aid to assist Limerick Fire Department for a building fire on Long Meadow Road. Limerick's Deputy Chief arrived and reported an active fire in the chimney of the home. Our engine crew stretched a handline to keep the fire in check while Limerick used their ladder truck to get up to the chimney. Crews extinguished the fire and check for extension.
