A mid-afternoon overturned utility truck snarled traffic on 422 Monday. Fire units from Upper Providence and Royersford along with EMS were dispatched to the Eastbound side of the highway for the vehicle with two occupants still inside. Crews arrived to find the vehicle tangled in the guidewires which worked as designed to slow the vehicle avoiding a significant impact and preventing it from crossing fully into the opposing lanes. Both occupants were able to self-extricate with EMS evaluating both onscene. Fire crews mitigated fluids leaking into the median while awaiting PennDOT to assist with the removal of the vehicle from the guidewires.
