At 10:45 this morning members of the Royersford Fire Department (both fire and EMS division) along with the Upper Providence Township Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) responded to a reported vehicle fire on westbound Route 422 in Upper Providence Township. Also dispatched to assist was the Black Rock Volunteer Fire Company and Trappe Fire Company EMS.

Upon arrival Engine 93 (DFES) found a dump truck well off the roadway and on fire with the single occupant out of the vehicle. Crews from the Department of Environmental Protection are overseeing the hazardous material cleanup efforts as recovery crews removed the vehicle form the wooded area. Also assisting onscene with the cleanup was the Montgomery County Hazmat Team.

Traffic was reduced to one lane passing the scene for an extended period of time while crews operated on the highway.
