Tuesday morning's 9:30am class for the Alvernia University Nursing students was a bit different than other lectures in their program. Providers from the EMS Division joined the students delivering a Stop the Bleed presentation providing them with training and practical hands-on time to develop this life-saving skill set. 51 students engaged with an interactive lecture before breaking out into groups practicing wound packing and tourniquet application taking with them knowledge and skills that can save a life when seconds truly count. Over a dozen of the Alvernia University Nursing Program students have joined our EMS crews answering 911 calls serving the community while understanding the roles and abilities of EMS in the field.

A big thank you to Cyndi Bickings, Nursing Academic Clinical Coordinator for the program and the students for allowing us to join their program today. This is hopefully the first of many opportunities to interact with the Nursing Program continuing to build a strong relationship between pre-hospital and in-hospital providers.
