| On August 20, 2018 at 4:28pm both divisions of the Royersford Fire Department (Fire and EMS) were dispatched assisting the Liberty Fire Company (Chester Station 63) for an Auto Accident reported with Entrapment in East Vincent Township. MICU 83-2 & Rescue 63 with Chief 63 onboard arrived to Route 724 & Kolb Road within 5 minutes of dispatch to find at a FedEx delivery truck in the drainage ditch along the roadway with the driver trapped under the vehicle. The driver of the truck was pinned in the drainage ditch with the truck coming to rest over top of him. Crews from Rescue 98 and MICU 325-3 arrived shortly after and assisted with vehicle stabilization as well as care and ultimately the removal of the patient. Crews used a variety of stabilization techniques based upon the style of the vehicle and varying working surfaces. Crews contended with water actively flowing in the drainage ditch due to the heavy rains recently effecting the patient as well as the high humidity of the afternoon. All crews worked seamlessly to effect a positive outcome to the situation. Engine 98 also responded and was redirected by Command to secure a Landing Zone at the Southeastern Pennsylvania Veterans Center for the aeromedical helicopter. Progressive training and a quick response by all crews provided a positive outcome. Thank you to the Limerick Fire Company (Station 54) for providing standby coverage RFD crews were operating on Route 724. |
