As afternoon turned to evening RFD was dispatched to assist on a building fire assignment in Upper Providence Township. Regional units descended on Cresson Boulevard after originally being dispatched for an automatic fire alarm which was upgraded after a smoke condition was discovered on the 3rd floor of the building. Rescue 98 hit the street with a crew of six fulfilling the role of cascade and additional manpower. A cascade assignment involves refilling air cylinders onscene allowing fire personnel to continue entering a smoke filled or other potentially dangerous environment. Rescue 98 arrived and assisted UPT crews before being released from the scene returning to Royersford for the start of National Night Out.
