If you were on 1st Avenue Monday night you may have seen a lot of activity. All of the fire agencies covering Upper Providence Township got together to practice relay pumping.

While we don't use it very often, sometimes when a water supply is not near a fire, Large Diameter Hose (LDH) is used with multiple pumpers (akak Engines) in order to maintain pressure supplying water to the fire scene. In this case Ladder 98 was at the end of the line of several engines. Along with the Royersford Fire Department this included the Black Rock Volunteer Fire Company, Collegeville Fire Company, Trappe Fire Company No. 1 and Upper Providence Township Fire & Emergency Services.

This important drill gave leadership the opportunity to test and verify how much water can be flowed if it was needed.
