As Royersford settled in wrapping up the weekend, RFD crews were dispatched to the 600 block of Main Street for a reported building fire. Also initially dispatched to assist was Limerick Fire Department & Liberty Fire Company. Royersford Borough Police Department and Chief 98 arrived almost immediately after dispatch finding an active fire on the front porch of a residence. Chief 98 upgraded the assignment to a confirmed fire bringing additional resources from Skippack Fire Company and Jefferson Fire Company. Ladder 98 was the first arriving fire unit within four minutes of dispatch with Engine 63 and Engine 98 following closely behind. Personnel made quick work of the flames which had broken the front windows of the building and began to enter the home, taming them before they were able to penetrate further into the building causing more damage. Crews remained on location ensuring all heat sources are extinguished and assisted in the investigation which is still ongoing before clearing the scene and reopening Main Street.

This incident also serves as a reminder to ensure your home has working smoke detectors and fire extinguishers ready in the event a fire breaks out.
