Over the last handful of days several our EMS Division staff have been some of the first pre-hospital providers to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in the region. EMTs, Advanced EMTs, Paramedics, and healthcare workers in multiple other roles have truly been on the front lines battling COVID-19 on a daily basis when interacting with patients. While Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), relentless disinfecting, and constant vigilance has kept the majority of our providers healthy and active a vaccine allows the collective community to go on the offensive hopefully bringing an end to this pandemic closer. Our staff have been lucky with multiple avenues for vaccination open to them, first being offered through Penn Medicine via Chester County Hospital and now through Montgomery County Department of Public Safety.

Despite a vaccine we must continue to act with caution and due diligence by wearing a mask when out, washing hands frequently, disinfecting high touch surfaces including phones and devices, and social distancing when possible. Our commitment to the Spring-Ford community is continuing to be positive role models by exhibiting these recommendations and always doing what's in the best interest of our patients. On behalf of the entire Royersford Fire Department and Friendship Ambulance we want to thank Montgomery County Department of Public Safety and Penn Medicine for putting frontline personnel in the initial group for vaccination and advocating for EMS providers everywhere.
