Crews continued to take advantage of the summertime weather to give additional trainee Driver/Operators "pump time" and drive time on the apparatus. Members worked to enhance hose deployment techniques including Ladder 98's hose trays which are set up with a Cleveland Hose Load. Crews reviewed proper deployment techniques along with repacking the trays. The Cleveland Hose Load allows the department the ability to set the hose down on the sidewalk, have the line charged (filled with water), and when crews enter the building the hose uncoils allowing for advancement into the occupancy with minimal hose issues. This is critical in the borough with the distance between where the apparatus parks and the front door is on avaerage only 23 feet. With hose loads of 200 feet long for reach to the upper floors and rear of buildings, proper hose deployment is essential.
