The call statistics for October are in and it confirmed something our members already knew, it was a busy month! As you can see from the 2020 Incidents box on the left side of the page there was a significant increase for both Fire & EMS Divisions putting up a total of 466 calls for service for the Department.

The Fire Division logged 47 calls for service during the month of October which is significantly up from the monthly average of 31.7. Not only was our team busy answering 911 calls but also taking part in multiple fundraising events for Helen's Angels and their mission against breast cancer, fire prevention activities including a Zoom presentation with Royersford Public Library, and of course taking part in a few championship parades for our very own Spring-Ford student athletes!

Our EMS Division also had a record breaking month handling 419 emergency and non-emergent transports. This total eclipses the monthly average of 357.2 which is still rebounding from a slowdown earlier this year due to COVID. The 419 figure does not account for any contacts with our paratransit unit or mental health transfers utilizing the EMS support vehicles which soars the total contacts by our EMS staff to well over 500. October 2020 was the busiest single month for Friendship Ambulance and Royersford Fire Department in the history of the ambulance. Also for the first time ever a 5th transport ambulance was added to the fleet bringing the total EMS vehicle count to eight with five ambulances, two support SUVs, and the paratransit unit.

Thumbing through our call statistic records, October 2020 was the busiest month for Royersford Fire Department looking back through 2018. Some interesting facts looking through the call data during that time period:

- In 2019 the Fire Division logged 45 calls in September and 42 in both December & January.
- In 2019 the EMS crews logged over 400 calls once in May putting up 405.
- RFD has a whole hit 436 calls in May 2019 making it the busiest month for the calendar year.

- In 2018 the department did not hit 400 total calls in any month with 390 for October biggest the closest.
- October 2018 was the busiest month for both divisions logging 41 fire incidents and 349 EMS calls for a total of 390.
