Shortly before the lunch hour struck, Ladder 98 was dispatched to relocate to Birdsboro-Union Fire Department in Berks County. Also dispatched for the cover assignment was Engine 33-1 from Bowmansville Fire Company and Truck 17 from Reamstown Fire Company, both in Lancaster County. Companies along the Montco-Berks border were operating at a multi-alarm fire on Ben Franklin Highway in Amity Township striping the area of resources prompting the call to relocate. Ladder 98 and crew headed up 422 arriving in Birdsboro Borough prepared to respond to additional emergencies in the region.

Crews from BUFD returned to station and with assistance from the standby companies were able to get back into service. Thanks to BUFD for their hospitality and the other standby companies who made the day a memorable one.
