At 12:01 PM the fire division was dispatched to Summer Street for an odor of natural gas outside. Assistant 98 (J. Weeks) arrived onscene to find a ruptured natural gas line struck by heavy machinery outside of a residence on the 300 block of Summer Street. Engine 98 responded and staged at 3rd Avenue and Summer Street while fire police blocked traffic from entering Summer Street at 4th Avenue. Fire and EMS units along with Royersford Police Department evacuated residents to a safe distance while PECO was notified of the incident and responded to the scene to shut off and repair the gas line. Once the gas line was repaired fire department crews checked several homes in the area with gas meters to ensure the homes were safe to reenter. Finding no further issues residents were allowed to return home. Remember if you or a contractor are planning to do any digging on your property please call 811 to have utilities marked before doing so. It's important to know before you dig for not only for your safety but the safety of our neighbors.

Shortly after clearing Summer Street Fire and EMS crews were dispatched for a medical emergency on the 600 Block of Main Street in Royersford. MICU 325-1 and Engine 98 made the response with crews from the Liberty Fire Company (Chester Ladder 63) also dispatched to assist EMS with lifting.
