This past weekend was quite busy for the Department encompassing fourteen calls for service. In addition to the 911 emergencies dispatched between 6am Friday and 6am Monday personnel handled special events and education sessions. Highlights from this weekend included:

RFD Fire Police were dispatched late Saturday night just before midnight to the Railroad crossing to assist the Royersford Borough Police Department with a malfunctioning gate. One of the railroad crossing gates were stuck in the down position with the other remaining upright. Fire Police directed traffic across the tracks until Norfolk Southern crews arrived and were able to make the necessary repairs to the gate.

Saturday morning our EMS crews handled double duty providing CPR instruction to 43 teachers and administrators from Spring-Ford Area School District while our On Duty EMS units stood by and had some fun at the Miles for Smiles 5K at Pope John Paul High School.

The Fire Division with surrounding mutual aid was alerted on Sunday evening to Buckwalter Circle in Upper Providence Township to a building fire which originated from a chimney. The fire was out upon arrival with crews ensuring no additional services were required.
