The winter weather held off Sunday for a special visitor and her family to make their way from New Jersey to Royersford. Lexi Grace is an amazing little girl who last year was diagnosed with leukemia. Since then she has undergone multiple chemotherapy treatments and despite a long, rough road always has a smile on her face. One of Lexi Grace's favorite shows is Paw Patrol and she loves anything with firetrucks, ambulances, police cars, and big trucks. We were contacted by a member of the Reading Royals team who after attending Emergency Services Night was blown away by the tight-knit community and our emergency responders to see if we could do anything to help. After a few emails and lots of hoping the weather would hold Lexi and her entire family made their way to Royersford for a real-life Paw Patrol experience!

Lexi and her family arrived being greeted by Slapshot from the Reading Royals and our RFD family welcoming them into the station. They were able to tour the fire apparatus, check out the ambulances, sit in a Royersford Police Department car, and climb up into a Royersford Borough Public Works truck! Some of our members brought their children to visit Lexi as well making it more fun to share in the memories with other kids. Also joining in the fun was Marshall from Paw Patrol and Santa Claus who delivered some presents to Lexi and her siblings. The day was highlighted with Lexi receiving a personalized set of fire gear with RFD and her name printed on the jacket. What better way to break in the new fire gear than with a ride on Engine 98 taking our special guests for a quick trip through town and for the first time in history, someone wanting to take a ride in the backseat of a police car!

All of this would not be possible without the members of Royersford Fire Department, Royersford Borough Police Department, Royersford Borough Public Works, Royersford Borough Office of Emergence Management, and the Mayor's Office who without hesitation stepped to the task and truly made memories for an unbelievably brave little girl and her amazing family. A special thank you to Berwyn Fire Company for the use of Marshall for the day as it truly brought smiles to so many faces.
