Early this morning the department was alerted to an auto accident with entrapment on S. Lewis Road in Upper Providence Township. Police arrived shortly after 3am to find one vehicle off the roadway into the woods, resting on its roof, with one occupant still inside. Chief 98 & EMS units arrived on location to find the vehicle approximately 35 feet off the roadway requiring hydraulic tools to free the driver. Chief 98 established "Lewis Road Command" and began to coordinate incoming units arriving to the scene. Rescue 98 arrived on location and were joined by personnel from the Liberty Fire Company and crews worked together to develop a plan to efficiently and safely make entry into the vehicle while battling the position of the car and the wooded environment where the vehicle came to rest. Crews worked for roughly 20 minutes and were able to extricate the occupant from the vehicle who was then transferred to waiting EMS personnel who evaluated and ultimately transported the patient to a local trauma center. All units cleared the scene after approximately 90 minutes.
