Royersford Fire Department and Friendship Ambulance for the first time in their history have filled full-time staff level positions within the organization. The Department for many, many years utilized part-time and per diem staff to fill the schedule needs but with a nationwide decline in EMS providers, many practitioners are forced to work multiple jobs making it difficult at times to fill shift needs. With this information and trends in the industry the decision was made to hire four full-time paramedics adding a foundation of staff to the Department. After an exhaustive process involving multiple interviews in which members of the EMS Division, Fire Division, and Administrative roles provided input the list of interested employees was whittled to four. Firefighter/Paramedic Anthony Hillen, Firefighter/Paramedic Mike Lessar, Paramedic Matt Lex, and Firefighter/Paramedic Connor Ryan were the four candidates who rose to the top of the list and accepted full-time positions with RFD. As you can see three of the four of these members are also fire trained adding additional hours of staffing to our crossover program.

We look forward to this new chapter as RFD continues to grow with the community adding services and personnel based on the needs of the region!
