An Independence Day tradition in the Spring-Ford community is the Waltz's Golf Farm Annual Fireworks display on Ridge Pike. Both the fire and EMS divisions assisted the Limerick Township Fire Marshal's office in providing coverage in different capacities for the event.

Just a short distance away at the Spring-Ford Country Club fire apparatus from Station 98 stood by in the event of a fire emergency. The area in and around Waltz's quickly becomes congested just before and after the fireworks display making it difficult for emergency apparatus to respond if needed. In a proactive step, fire companies from the region are relocated to strategic positions around the area to ensure prompt responses to any situations which may arise. Fire crews and their families setup tents, tables, and fired up the grill to spend the evening enjoying delicious food and great company. While standing by fire crews from RFD investigated a smoke condition along S. Limerick Road which proved unfounded and were able to enjoy the fireworks from a great vantage point at the Country Club.

Onsite at Waltz's Golf Farm the EMS Bicycle Team was deployed to patrol and respond to any emergencies on the grounds or in the area. The Bike Team was sidelined for a short period of time while the rainstorm passed early in the evening but was able to actively patrol through the crowds, parking lots, and roadways before and after the fireworks display. The team worked alongside EMS crews from Trappe Fire Company EMS to provide medical coverage and also patrolling the area was a bicycle team from the Limerick Township Police Department. Specialized Bicycle Teams are ideal for events such as the Waltz's fireworks display as roadways become congested and patrons may be a significant distance from an area where a full-sized vehicle can access. Being able to utilize bicycles to quickly respond and navigate through congested areas with vehicles or pedestrians allows responders to assess situations quickly and develop a plan of action.

Thank you to the Limerick Township Fire Marshal's Office and the Waltz family for their hard work in the planning and execution of this event! The amount of work to organize an event of this size is monumental and each and every year their dedication is what makes this event a success.
