The EMS Division of the Department is proud to announce the promotion of two Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to Advanced EMTs as they have successfully passed National Registry certification testing. AEMTs Katie Komar & Emily Sarver are graduates of the Shumaker Public Safety Center at Harrisburg Area Community College tackling a hybrid student driven program. The AEMT program consists of an online learning platform with multiple practical hands-on sessions to practice skills. In addition to the online learning and practical sessions AEMT students are required to completed almost 100 hours of shadowing and precepting time. Both these providers spent their field precepting time with Friendship Ambulance paramedics to hone their IV skills, applying cardiac monitoring, and administering medications when needed. Intermediate providers are a valuable asset to Friendship Ambulance and the Spring-Ford community as they are able to assist with skills in critical situations as well as establish an advanced level of care if paramedic level service in the area is strained.

Congratulations to the newest Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians to Royersford Fire Department & Friendship Ambulance!
