Saturday May 4th shaped up to be a busy day for both divisions of the Royersford Fire Department. Crews split to tackle and participate in three separate events in the area. The day started with the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event benefiting the Laurel House in Montgomery County. The Laurel House supports those impacted by domestic violence by providing crisis intervention, safe haven, supportive programs and resources. EMS Supervisor Lenny Brown and Firefighter Jamie Mayers joined Team Royersford to raise money and then walk one mile in high heels to raise domestic violence awareness. Royersford Borough Council President Anil Dham, Vice President Matt Stehman, & Council Member Joe Moskal along with Montgomery County Commisioner Ken E. Lawrence, Jr. and Royersford Borough Police Corporal Scot Fennelly. Participants dodged raindrops to start the event but the rain stopped shortly after the walk was underway making for a great event.

Rescue 98 took part in the Victory Park Opening Day festivities being held to officially open the park for the season! Both kids and adults alike were able to check out the firetruck as well as see the equipment the department uses for vehicle accidents and other types of rescues. Captain Elliott Guffey and Firefighter Joe Campbell were on hand to answer questions and display some of the best the department has to offer.

Finally our EMS Bike Team was invited to help provide EMS coverage for the Upper Providence Township Music Fest held at Anderson Farm Park in the Township. EMTs Aaron Sifford & Aaron Heller were on patrol with our friends from Trappe Fire Company EMS taking in the great music, food, and atmosphere. The EMS Bike Team is great for large events where navigating an ambulance would be difficult due to pedestrians or terrain.

A big thank you to everyone who came out to these great events and spent some time with our crews!
