RFD crews had a busy morning on US-422 with 2 separate accidents in the westbound lanes. The first occurred just after 8:45am where one vehicle went off the road near milemarker 181. Royersford units responded along with units from Upper Providence Department of Fire & Emergency Services and Trappe Fire Company Ambulance. The occupants of the vehicle refused treatment and units cleared the scene quickly.

While traffic was still backed up due to the first incident, a second incident happened behind the first. A dump truck and an SUV became entangled in a collision. The dump truck ended up sideways and blocking the left lane while the SUV was on the right shoulder with the driver trapped inside. The entire roadway was shutdown westbound as crews from Upper Providence Department of Fire & Emergency Services, Royersford Fire Department and Collegeville Fire Company worked together to removing the driver from the SUV. The driver was then transported to the hospital.

The westbound lanes of US-422 were shut down for approximately 45 minutes and at one point police were flushing the queued traffic from the westbound lanes through the emergency turnaround which had eastbound US-422 at a standstill. As always, we ask that drivers remain vigilant as conditions change quickly and you may find traffic patterns out of the norm. Don't forget to "Slow Down and Move Over" when you see workers out on the road.
