On Tuesday evening the department held its first Stop the Bleed class aimed at training the public to quickly identify and then intervene when life-threatening bleeding is present. 25 attendees were led through the program which consists of a lecture portion presented by EMS Supervisor Lenny Brown followed by an opportunity to get hands-on with tourniquet application and practicing wound packing on simulated injuries. During the practical session attendees were joined by members of our EMS Division and Spring-Ford Area School District Police who provided guidance and answered questions on a one-on-one basis.

Due to the overwhelming success of this event we will be scheduling more sessions to continue spreading the word on how to Stop the Bleed. Be sure to follow our Facebook page and check our website for upcoming community training opportunities.
