On Tuesday evening the department held its first Stop the Bleed class aimed at training the public to quickly identify and then intervene when life-threatening bleeding is present. 25 attendees were led through the program which consists of a lecture portion presented by EMS Supervisor Lenny Brown followed by an opportunity to get hands-on with tourniquet application and practicing wound packing on simulated injuries. During the practical session attendees were joined by members of our EMS Division and Spring-Ford Area School District Police who provided guidance and answered questions on a one-on-one basis. Due to the overwhelming success of this event we will be scheduling more sessions to continue spreading the word on how to Stop the Bleed.
