Member Editorials: Teamwork Tackles A Critical Patient in Poor Weather

In emergency services, we don't get to pick and choose the calls we respond to. We don't get to say "that's sounds too tough" or "the weather is pretty bad, let's just stay in." During these difficult calls we typically call on our mutual aid partners to assist. One of our paramedics, Whitney Chadwick submitted a "Thank You Story" to share regarding a recent interaction in East Coventry Township. This is the first entry for our new segment of the website called "Member Editorials." An opportunity for our front line providers to share stories of their interactions with the community, patients, mutual aid partners or just to share something important to them. Enjoy!

"My Partner, EMT Kelly Krelove, and I wanted to take a very brief moment to commend the East Coventry Township Police Officers as well as Station 62 (Ridge Fire Company) for their generous assistance with a very sick patient. The East Coventry Police Officers onscene prior to EMS arrival were both a tremendous asset, as the call was at night with very poor weather conditions and limited access to the patient. Station 62 personnel were also summoned and quickly offered assistance with our stroke patient. Many thanks to all involved with this particular call, as it is always very much appreciated."

Yours in Service,
Paramedic Chadwick
