Just before 7pm the department was alerted to an auto accident on Route 422 eastbound at milemarker 181.0, just passed the Royersford on ramp. MICU 83-2 responded immediately from Spring City arriving within 5 minutes of dispatch and quickly triaged all involved parties to initially find one minor injury. Rescue & Utility 98 arrived shortly behind along with a PennDOT service vehicle to provide traffic control and lane blocking for EMS and PD to operate safely. A second patient presented while EMS was onscene with both parties being evaluated and ultimately declining transport to the hospital. RFD units cleared the eastbound incident in just over 20 minutes.

While on 422 heading to the Collegeville exit to return back to Royersford, Fire and EMS units were alerted to another accident in the westbound direction at milemarker 182.4. Units exited at Route 29 and began to make their way westbound arriving to find another two vehicle accident on the left shoulder just after the Old State Road underpass. EMS triaged all parties involved with Rescue & Utility 98 again setting up to block for EMS and PD. One party was transported to a local hospital for evaluation by MICU 83-2 with RFD fire units clearing shortly after.

Royersford Fire Department reminds everyone to "Slow Down & Move Over" when emergency, tow service, or construction vehicles are operating on the highway. Prior to the arrival of fire units and the PennDOT service vehicle many drivers continued in the lanes directly next to the emergency vehicles traveling at highway speeds. It is a law to protect first responders and other highway workers who have family and friends who are waiting for them at home.
